The Office for National Statistics (ONS) released the first results (phase one) on Tuesday 28 June 2022.
Phase one includes estimates of the number of people and households in England and Wales. Figures at local authority level show the number of people by sex and age rounded to the nearest 100. Further topical releases are expected throughout the remainder of 2022.
Phase two and three products are anticipated within two years of the census held on Sunday 21 March 2021.
For phase two, the ONS shall produce combined datasets that can be explored using variables such as religion or accommodation type.
For phase three, the ONS shall produce new datasets for these four datatypes: alternative population bases, small populations, origin-destination or “flow” data, and microdata.
